Tips for clearing up breakouts?

lipstick-lust answered:

Firstly use products appropriate for your skin type!Β

  • Wash your face 2x a day!
  • Exfoliate regularly (1x dry, 2x combo, 3x oily, 1x ever other week sensitive)
  • Use a toner to help balance your skins pH!
  • Serums. You can find ones that help with acne or if you use a spot treatment it’s great to add hydration back to the skin because most acne treatments really dry out the skin. Also free radicals.
  • Moisturizer.
  • Mask once a week, to help draw out dirt, bacteria, and impurities.
  • Use a Clarisonic to help break up dirt, bacteria, oil and impurities.Β
  • Use products that have Salicylic acid, Benzoyl Peroxide, or both (aka Proactive contains both). Some times only one works and other times people can use either and clear up break outs. I personally like using washes with Salicylic and that alone keeps pimples at bay.
  • Spot Treat! (Gels/Creams that have Salicylic acid, Benzoyl Peroxide, or things like Mario Badescu drying lotion. Use these products only wear you have breakouts, these can be harsh.)
